Her involvement in the arts has a strong education and
administrative focus working mainly with performing arts –

community.

Lindsay
Marks
Lindsay has tutored in Design and Graphic Design for 20
years, 15 years at AUT and 5 at Northtec. The role at Northtec
covers more studio and exhibition papers than graphic design,
mainly because the degree is in applied arts and graphic design
is but a small component.
Lindsay holds a BA (hons) from St Martins in London, and an MFA
(hons) from Elam, Auckland.
He
has been involved in music as a performing and composing
musician (although these days are largely over now!) and as a
guitar-maker for a number of years. In between design jobs he
worked at the Stringed Instrument Company in Auckland as a
luthier and instrument restorer. His other work is as a
furniture-maker and he has exhibitions and work in a number of
galleries.
As well as lecturing at Northtec, Lindsay has acted as a
postgraduate external examiner for other Universities. He is
chairperson of the Local Advisory Board (LAC) for Northtec and
works closely with Arts Promotion Trust and artists and
educational organisations in this capacity. He is also a trustee
at Te Kowhai Print Trust.
"My main interests and drive are in fostering and
maintaining a relationship between students, artists, galleries
and the public. I am also interested in the establishment of art
in public spaces in Whangarei and Northland."
