The Arts Promotion Trust (Northland), currently working with NZ Trade and Enterprise, under the Enterprise Culture and Skills Activity Fund on Crossing the Gap: Professional Development for Northland Artists Project, thanks for those who have shown interest in and support for the project, provided nominations for senior artists as mentors, or feedback.
Senior students at Northland Polytech (both campuses) have been spoken to and a Senior Artists Network has been created which will soon conduct its first meeting, by tele- conference. The group has now produced an application form and other documents- a number of which have been sent out to interested artists.
Keep an eye on the web- sites the big idea and fuel4arts for a news release informing artists of the latest developments.
Focusing on emerging and existing artists/craft people; the project seeks to deliver creative business skills, ongoing coaching and arts specific mentoring to five groups of three artists across a variety or disciplines within the visual arts.
Meshing with APTs mission: to create an environment in which Artists thrive and the community benefits from their success, together with T & Es stated aim to help New Zealand business achieve success at home and in the global market.
